We’ll Be Back: Raptors Uprising GC bow out of Tipoff despite narrow victory over Cavs Legion GC

Raptors Uprising GC had to wait an extra day to play, but despite recording a 67-66 win over Cavs Legion GC, the squad will not be advancing to the bracket play of the Tipoff.

Toronto finishes group play with a 3-3 record, which was unfortunately not enough to punch their ticket back to D.C.

Coming into this game, Raptors Uprising needed to win by 15 to have the best chance of progressing, but a one-point victory and other results not going their way ultimately proved to be the end of the line for Toronto in the Tipoff.

Following a tight first quarter to begin the evening, the squad took control in the second to establish a nine-point lead at halftime.

Moreover, a bigger push was needed in the second half. Yet, the Cavs were fighting back and finished the third quarter with a one-point lead.

Toronto would eventually win the game by a single point, which in the end was not enough to advance.

Gazulli led the team in scoring with 23 points, while BallLikeSeem, Putback and Mooch each recorded double figures too.

Seem once again notched a double–double as he put up 14 rebounds to go along with his 12 points.

After the game, head coach Roy Krishnan spoke on the importance of getting the win in spite of the circumstances.

“Always good to win a game in the 2K League, winning is what we’re trying to do here.”

“Ultimately, it’s about getting better everyday, and I think we got a little bit better today. I like where we’re headed.”

Krishnan then discussed the growth of his young squad in their first 5v5 tournament of the season.

“Progress is the most important thing. This is a very, very young team with only one veteran in terms of experience. We are better off from when we started.”

Toronto’s head coach ended the proceedings with a message to Raptors Uprising fans ahead of what’s to come.
“We’re in a good spot. A good run in the Turn is going to ensure we make the playoffs. I’m happy with what we’ve done, and we’ve just got to keep building.”

Raptors Uprising GC will now get set for the Turn, where the squad will start things off against Heat Check Gaming on Tuesday, June 20th at 10pm ET.
