Not Our Day: Raptors Uprising GC falls to Grizz Gaming in THE TURN opener

In the team’s return to 5v5 action, Raptors Uprising GC fell short against Grizz Gaming despite a bold comeback attempt in the fourth quarter.

Following a couple weeks without any games, Toronto was able to reset and refocus ahead of the second 5v5 tournament of the NBA 2K League season.

Yet, Raptors Uprising will now have to bounce back right away after suffering defeat in their tournament opener.

Toronto started the game with two notable position changes. Kenny Got Work, who was playing against his hometown of Memphis, was moved to centre, while Dimez went back to shooting guard, a role he had yet to play this year.

The first quarter ended with Toronto down four. Both teams came out hungry and the same was expected for the second. But, Memphis was hungrier.

Grizz Gaming won the quarter by 12 points and established a 16-point lead heading into halftime.

Raptors Uprising needed to turn things around in order to avoid a heavy defeat, and in the third, they steadily improved, but were still down 17 ahead of the fourth.

Momentum finally swung Toronto’s way and at one point, Memphis’ lead was cut to just six points. Raptors Uprising may have won the quarter by six points, but they ultimately fell 77-66.

Big Saint had himself quite the game individually, dropping 25 points. He also led the team in steals with six.

At centre for the first time this season, Kenny finished the game with seven rebounds to his name, while Type led the way in blocks with three.

FantaSZN, who started the game brightly, finished with 12 points and a team-high five assists.

Raptors Uprising will have a day to rest before taking on Celtics Crossover Gaming on Thursday, May 26th. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:45pm EST.
