Learning Moment: Raptors Uprising GC enters lower bracket play following defeat to Glitchy

Glitchy’s magical run is still going strong as Raptors Uprising GC fell to defeat at the hands of the amateur club, losing a five-game thriller which could have gone either way (23-16, 10-22, 21-12, 20-23, 19-21).

Following the loss, Toronto now enters lower bracket play, meaning they are now set for a potential double-header on Friday which will determine whether or not the squad flies out to D.C. next week.

The squad takes on Hornets Venom GT first, which entails a rematch with Big Saint, and then should Toronto emerge victorious, they will face the winner of Wizards District Gaming and Warriors Gaming.

Moreover, one more loss will result in Raptors Uprising’s elimination from the Slam Open.

To no one’s surprise, head coach Roy Krishnan went with the same starting three that beat Lakers Gaming in Round One (Mooch, Putback, and Haam).

The trio got off to a strong start in Game 1, taking it in convincing fashion to set the tone early. Yet, Glitchy bounced right back in Game 2, handing Toronto a 22-10 loss to level the series and state their intent.

In Game 3, it was Raptors Uprising’s turn to bite back, and following a comfortable 21-12 win, D.C. was within touching distance.

In spite of that, Glitchy rallied to take both Games 4 and 5 to stun Raptors Uprising and hand them a defeat that will arguably leave a sour taste in their mouths. As stated earlier, this could have gone either way, and Toronto will lament their missed chances that would have put the series to bed. A learning moment indeed for this young team.

Stats-wise, Mooch led the team in scoring on the night with 59 points, while Haam was also double figures with 29 of his own. Putback was the team’s leader in rebounds with eight, while Mooch also added nine assists to go along with his 59-point night.

Raptors Uprising GC now turns their focus to a win or go home clash with the Hornets on Friday, March 24th, with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 pm ET. Should Toronto win, they will face either the Wizards or the Warriors at 9:45 pm ET.
