First One Down: Defensive prowess helps Raptors Uprising GC to victory over NBL Oz Gaming

Raptors Uprising GC recorded their first win of The Turn group play on Friday, beating NBL Oz Gaming 51-40.

Toronto is now 1-2 heading into the final week and second half of group play.

Victory was much needed for the squad, and they duly delivered despite a slow start in the first quarter.

Oz may have taken a two-point lead to start things off, but Toronto was then able to limit their opponent to just three points in the second quarter.

That 16-point difference in the second quarter proved the difference maker, as a close second half solidified Toronto’s deserved win.

Mooch finished the night with a double-double (16 points and 11 assists), while Haam was in double figures in points with 14.

BallLikeSeem and PutBack were also close double-doubles, but credit goes to Gazulli, whose three steals were vital to Toronto’s push for victory.

Post-game, Putback discussed just how important it was to execute the game plan on the night.

“We had a game plan, we executed it and it went through. We let the game come to us.”

Raptors Uprising GC are back in action on Tuesday, June 28th against Cavs Legion GC at 10pm ET.
