Eyes On Bracket Play: Raptors Uprising GC splits doubleheader to conclude group play

Raptors Uprising GC recorded a series win and loss on the final day of Switch Open group play, taking care of business in five games against T-Wolves Gaming (21-18, 19-21, 19-22, 23-18, 22-15), but falling in five games in 76ers GC (17-22, 21-14, 18-22, 23-19, 11-22).

Toronto finishes group play with a 3-5 record ahead of the beginning of bracket play next week.

It is safe to say the Game Fives have been one of the common themes of Raptors Uprising’s season so far, and on Friday, they were dealt two more.

To start the evening off, Toronto was forced to come from 2-1 down in their series with Minnesota to ultimately take it 3-2 following a 22-15 victory in Game 5. That surely served as a morale-boosting victory following the losses to Wizards District Gaming and Pacers Gaming on Tuesday.

Looking for the sweep on the night, Raptors Uprising had all eyes on victory against the 76ers, who Toronto comfortably beat 3-1 last week.

Yet, it was Philly who came out on top, winning Game 5 despite Toronto coming from 2-1 down in the series to force a decider.

Mooch finished Friday with 103 points and 19 assists to notch another double-double, while Gazulli also helped himself to one with 30 points and 19 rebounds. Haam not only put up 34 points, but also a force on defence as per usual, tallying seven rebounds and four steals.

Post-game, Gazulli reflected on another week of both persona; and team growth in the NBA 2K League.

“I feel like I’ve improved a lot, I’m a lot more adjusted to the game,” said Gazulli.

“As a team, I think we improved in almost every single series and that we got better in a lot of things we needed to work on.”

Gazulli also spoke on the team’s mentality ahead of bracket play next week.

“We’re going to be a team that’s ready to move and ready to compete.”

“We’re improving and finding our identity and I feel like we’re going to go on a hot streak soon.”

Raptors Uprising will begin bracket play against Heat Check Gaming on Tuesday, April 18th at 6 pm ET.
