The Boys are Buzzing: Raptors Uprising GC start season with three straight wins

Talk about a hot start to 2022!

Following three dominant performances to begin their season, Raptors Uprising GC is 3-0 after three games in THE TIPOFF group stage.

Comprehensive victories over Grizz Gaming, Magic Gaming, and Hornets Venom GT ensured Toronto got off to the best possible start to the tournament while seemingly putting the ghosts of 2021 behind them.

With three wins, the Raptors Uprising have all but assured themselves a place in the round of 16, a feat that was not attained last year.

New recruits FantaSZN and Big Saint, along with returning veterans Dimez, Type, and Kenny Got Work were all dialed from the start, and this was evident during the first half of their season opener against the Grizz.

Despite being down four after the first quarter, the Raptors Uprising rallied and limited their opponent to just four points in the second. Dimez, who looks set to be playing at centre this season, put on a masterclass in defense alongside Saint, who would finish the game with seven steals to his name.

In the second half, Dimez remained as active as ever in the post while his teammates continued to play fast and tenacious basketball to put the game out of reach.

A final score of 62-52 in favour of Toronto was just the start the squad was looking for. Dimez led the team in scoring with 22 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double. In his professional debut, Fanta put up 14 points and provided six assists in quite the impressive display for the rookie.

Following the game, the 7th overall pick in the 2022 NBA 2K League Draft was in high spirits after his first game in the NBA 2K League.

“It feels great, coming from the adversity and all the doubt to just performing,” said a jubilant Fanta.

On growing as a team, Fanta had this to say: “We’ve had a lot of big talks, and I feel like we’re all on the same page now. Everything we practiced kind of fell into the game.”

Fanta did also say that Toronto would carry its momentum into the next game and beyond, and boy did they.

The Raptors Uprising were ruthless in their second game of the group stage as they beat Magic Gaming by 26 points to maintain their perfect start to the season.

Toronto scored at least 20 in three of the four quarters, showcasing just how dominant this team looks set to be on the offensive end.

This time around, Dimez made sure he got his double-double, putting up 20 points and 10 rebounds. Fanta, Saint and Kenny all hit double digits in points as they recorded 20, 17 and 17 respectively.

Saint also highlighted why he’s called Big Stop as he notched five steals against the Magic.

“I got us against anybody right now, I don’t care who we’re playing” said an ecstatic Saint after the win.

Confidence amongst the squad was sky high, and in their third game against the Hornets Venom, Toronto not only showed they had what it took to fight back, they also displayed just how ruthless they could be when they were in control.

Dimez and co. found themselves down at halftime after a disappointing second quarter where the Raptors Uprising were outscored by 10. Cue what was arguable the best quarter of the basketball this Raptors Uprising squad has played so far.

Toronto won the quarter 25-10, with Fanta, Kenny and Saint all starring on the offensive front. The three of them would end up finishing the game with 20+ points each as they capped off another commanding performance on the floor.

The Raptors Uprising sealed a 72-58 comeback victory, and the vibes were as immaculate as ever with the squad knowing the were heading into the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record.

Fanta finished the game with a double-double while Kenny was 100% from threre-point land.

“Every time you get a win in this league, it’s a breath of fresh air.” said Kenny after the hard-fought victory.

Kenny also heaped praise on Saint for stepping up at halftime to rally the guys.

“Saint stepped up and called us out on things that made us a bad team in scrimmages. We laid everything out at halftime and came out in the second half looking like the team we’ve been showing you guys.”

Moreover, it’s safe to say that the North is well and truly on the rise and that this is only the beginning for this enthralling Raptors Uprising squad.

To finish off the group stage, the Raptors face NetsGC and Knicks Gaming before finding out who they’ll face in bracket play.

With a perfect first week in the books, it’s time for Toronto to build off of a strong start and continue to show the entire league that they’re a force to be reckoned with this season.
