Music To Our Ears: Raptors Uprising GC comes from behind to beat Jazz Gaming

Despite dropping Game 1, Raptors Uprising GC fought back to best Jazz Gaming 3-1 in 3v3 Seed Weeks actions (20-23, 22-8, 22-18, 22-16).

Toronto improves to 2-2, but their playoff fate has already been decided as the squad will be taking part in the Steal Open following the conclusion of 3v3 Seed Weeks.

Victory over the Jazz may not mean much in terms of the standings, but for a team in need of a boost in morale, a hard-fought win after going a game down should lift spirits within the group.

FantaSZN, Big Saint and Type were the trio to get this one started, a lineup that head coach Kevin Franklin has preferred over the course of the last two weeks.

A tightly-contested start to this series saw both teams go at it in Game 1. Yet, Saint’s 13 points were not enough for Raptors Uprising as the Jazz sealed a narrow 23-20 win to draw first blood.

In Game 2, Raptors Uprising arguably produced their best 3v3 single-game performance, taking it 22-8. A dominant display was headlined by Fanta’s 14 points, while Saint continued to impress in the scoring category with eight of his own.

With momentum firmly on Toronto’s side, the squad kept things rolling in Game 3, recording a 22-18 win to move one away from taking the series. Saint once again dominated in scoring, tallying 14 to lead the team in Game 3.

Toronto’s dominance continued into what proved to be the final game of the evening, as Fanta’s 15 points steered Raptors Uprising to a 22-16 win, wrapping up a 3-1 series triumph.

He may not have played on the night, but Kenny was full of praise for his teammates after the impressive victory.

“We played pretty solid. It just goes to show that if we don’t beat ourselves, we can hang with any team in this league.”

Kenny also spoke on the importance of a morale boosting win regardless if there’s no impact on the standings.

“Any kind of win at this point leaves us with our heads high. We’re just trying to find any kind of momentum, and that’s how you do it, you get wins and you take the good things that you do from those games and rock out with that.”

Ahead of a tough series against the Lakers, Kenny was relishing the test on Thursday.

“That’s going to be a true test for us. They have good quality players and that’ll be a great test for us to see where we really stand.”

With Indy looming, Kenny also expressed his excitement to get back on that stage.

“I’m excited for this team to get on the stage. I feel like we’ve been needing some kind of spark, and hopefully that will give us the energy to go on some kind of run.”

Raptors Uprising GC concludes 3v3 Seed Weeks against Lakers Gaming on Thursday, July 28th, with Game 1 scheduled for 8:00 pm EST.
