Kenny Got Work wins third NBA 2K League Player of the Week award

TORONTO, Canada—The NBA 2K League announced Tuesday that Raptors Uprising GC point guard Kenneth “Kenny Got Work” Hailey has been named the NBA 2K League Week 8 Player of the Week. Kenny earns the honour for the third time this season after also winning the award in Weeks 1 and 3.

The Raptors Uprising’s all-time leading scorer averaged 33.4 points, 9.5 assists and 4.4 steals across five series games as Toronto won both Week 8 matchups, improving to a league-best 12-0 record this season. He also shot 67.7 per cent from the field (69-for-102) and 65.7 per cent from three-point range (23-for-35).

Kenny Got Work began Week 8 by helping Raptors Uprising set an NBA 2K League record for most wins to begin a regular season (11), sweeping Heat Check Gaming on June 29 in the league’s first “Cash Match.” Kenny posted 65 points, 20 assists, and seven steals while connecting on 10 three-pointers in two games as Toronto collected $2,500 for the win. Three nights later, the Memphis native continued with a combined 102-point, 26-assist and 15-steal effort against Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai in the team’s second “Cash Match” to lead Raptors Uprising to its franchise-best 12th win in a row.

Originally taken 11th overall in the inaugural NBA 2K League Draft, Kenny Got Work is the longest-serving Raptors Uprising player and is the only player to represent Toronto in all three NBA 2K League seasons. In 12 matches this season, the 30-year-old is averaging career-bests in points (33.4), assists (8.1), steals (3.5) and field-goal percentage (62.7).

Raptors Uprising (12-0) return to action in Week 10 when they take on Pacers Gaming on Thursday, July 16 (7 p.m. ET) after a bye in Week 9. The game, and all other NBA 2K League action, will be streamed live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
