Gotta Keep Fighting: Raptors Uprising GC suffers tough loss to T-Wolves Gaming

While the result on paper was one to forget, Raptors Uprising GC will look to learn from their mistakes following a disappointing 72-57 loss to T-Wolves Gaming.

The defeat leaves Toronto with a 1-2 record ahead of their final two games of 5v5 Seed Weeks.

Despite two straight losses, the fight for playoffs is far from over for Toronto.

T-Wolves Gaming are arguably the best team in the NBA 2K League this season, and on the night, they truly tested Raptors Uprising GC. But as the saying goes, you have to beat the best to be the best, and there’s no doubt that Fanta SZN and co. will bounce back.

As has been the case over the last week, Toronto endured a slow start in the first quarter, going down six after the first six minutes of play.

Improvement was evident in the second, as Raptors Uprising won the quarter, but still found themselves down five at halftime.

Toronto has been a second half team for most of the season, but the squad was unable to reduce the deficit and spark a comeback against Minnesota. The T-Wolves outscored Raptors Uprising in both the third and fourth quarters to seal a 15-point victory.

Plondo had himself another strong night, putting up a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Big Saint also grabbed 15 points, with Fanta and Kenny Got Work also tallying double digits in points.

Fanta was one assist shy of a double-double, recording nine, while Type and Saint co-led blocks with three each.

After the game, Type was in a pensive mood knowing that the road to playoffs just got a little more difficult for Toronto.

“It’s tough. Right now, we’re not in the position we want to be in and with us losing this game, I think it makes it that much harder to get where we want to be, which is playoffs.

“Right now we’re focused on getting the momentum going, which we can do in our next couple of games.

“We’re not down and out yet. We know we can win these next two games and be in a good position.”

Against a tough opponent in the T-Wolves, Type explained what his team can take away from playing against a squad like them.

“They’re a great team, if not the best team in the league. When you play teams like that, they do a number of different things that make you think.

“For us, we can learn a lot from them, but we understand what we have to do to get better.”

On the team’s overall confidence, Type spoke on how he and the guys are not letting a slump get to them.

“This team has the right pieces, the right players and the right mindset to look forward to and get to the next game, and that’s what we’ll be doing.

“What’s special about this team is that you’ve got guys that are tough-minded and are looking forward to the next game even after a loss.”

Raptors Uprising GC is back in action on Wednesday, July 13th against Cavs Legion GC, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 pm EST.
