Back In The Win Column: Raptors Uprising GC takes care of business against Gen.G Tigers

They had to work for it, but Raptors Uprising GC came away with their first win of 3v3 Seed Weeks, beating the Gen.G Tigers 3-1 (22-20, 23-17, 17-21, 21-17).

Following the series win, Toronto is now 1-1 in 3v3 Seed Weeks with three more teams left to play.

A bounce back victory was needed after a disappointing loss to Nets GC on Tuesday, and FantaSZN and co. duly delivered.

One change was made to the lineup that played against Brooklyn as Type came in for Kenny Got Work while Fanta and Big Saint kept their spots in the starting three.

Game 1 saw Raptors Uprising get off to a strong start, but Gen.G rallied late to narrow the deficit to one point at 20-19. Toronto then ensured they closed it out, taking it 22-20.

Momentum was carried into Game 2, as Fanta’s 17 points helped steer him and the squad to a comfortable 23-17 win to move within one game of a series victory.

While Toronto would’ve wanted the sweep, Gen.G put up quite the fight in Game 3 and sealed a 21-17 win to force Game 4.

Despite continuing to play hard, Gen.G simply couldn’t do it again, and Raptors Uprising sealed a 21-17 win in Game 4 to clinch the series 3-1.

Fanta had himself a night and put up 65 points across the four games. Type made an impression as well, recording a team high 16 rebounds.

He may have stolen the headlines with his numbers once again, but Fanta revealed post-game that he just let the game come to him.

“With this game, literally take a deep breath, relax and play,” said Fanta

“In Game 1, I wasn’t really doing that, but in Game 2, I was focusing on my breathing and chilling, and I was hooping.”

Fanta was also full of praise for Saint and his strong display on defence.

“Shoutout Saint, he played great defence against a No. 1 pick.”

Having recorded the win, Fanta expressed that it did not come easy for him and the squad.

“We knew it was going to be a hard game. They’re a great team and have a lot of talent.”
Facing the Wizards next, Fanta spoke on how important a win over Gen.G was for the mental side of things.

“Coming off a poor performance against the Nets, a bounce back tonight felt great, but you can’t get too high with the highs and too low with the lows.”

“We’re at the end of the season, but we’re still learning.”

Raptors Uprising GC is back in action on Friday, July 22nd against Wizards District Gaming, with Game 1 scheduled for 7:00 pm EST.
